Dr. April Whitfield and her husband David have been living in Murfreesboro since 2007. Her husband is a teacher/assistant coach at Ensworth High School and when they are not working they enjoy exercising together along with visiting friends and family, participating in religious activities, mentoring high school students and walking their dog, Cele. Dr. Whitfield attended Michigan State University both for undergraduate and medical school; she completed her residency at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as a fellow of ACOG and is a member of Tennessee Medical Association, Stones River Medical Society, and the National Medical Association.
In 2012, Dr April Whitfield was asked to join the board for Rutherford county's first AAU basketball team, The Nashville Burners. With sponsored donations, it has been possible to fully fund the team. This way, participants and their families can enjoy the games without worry of team costs.
