On Tuesday, April 19th, Murfreesboro Medical Clinic welcomed several Rutherford County high school seniors to job shadow healthcare professionals throughout the facility. The students began their day by attending a short seminar explaining the different career options in the healthcare industry. There they were informed about positions ranging from informatics, to administration, to nursing, and physician positions.
Oakland's Marricus Ellis was one of those whom attended, where he shadowed Angela Higgins, a physician's assistant in the Dermatology department at MMC. Marricus sought out this department specifically due to the personal experience he has had with eczema in his family. During his time in dermatology, Ellis enjoyed the front row seat to a biopsy, and was sure to ensure staff that a weak stomach would not hinder his future endeavors!
MMC is excited to see the interest of young people in the healthcare field, such as Marricus, and hopes this experience spurs them on to pursue their dreams in confidence. The youth in Rutherford County are sure to light a bright flame for the future of the healthcare industry.
